The Sherwood Forest neighborhood is located in the Colesville area of Silver Spring and generally is framed by New Hampshire Avenue to the east, Randolph Road to the south, Bonifant Road to the north and the Northwest Branch Park to the west. It is comprised of a collection of small subdivisions built as long ago as the 1950’s with some new sections still being built today. For our purposes, we’re including the Westover Elementary boundary area as ‘Greater Sherwood Forest’ and including the Doral neighborhood which is outside the Westover boundaries but is still a part of the fabric of Sherwood Forest.
One of the strengths of the area is the wide variety of styles and sizes of homes and the generous lot sizes (1/4 acre to 1+ acres) most are situated upon. In early spring the cherry blossoms are a sight to behold! Westover Elementary and the Robin Hood Swim Club serve as the focal points of the community and combine to form a very comfortable and inviting neighborhood core.
The area is ideally located for commuting to the new FDA campus just down the road in White Oak, into downtown D.C., Columbia, Baltimore, the University of Maryland at College Park, Bethesda and the I-270 corridor to the west. The Glenmont Metro station (Red Line) is just minutes away for easy access to the entire D.C. metropolitan region and the recently opened Inter-County Connector (ICC) provides convenient east-west access between I-95 and I-270.
The neighborhood combines a convenient, yet quiet, location with a friendly collection of residents and offers a pleasant and relaxed lifestyle!
